Types of Book Marketing Assets

Let’s distinguish between marketing and marketing assets. Marketing assets are the things you’ll use in your marketing: book description, book cover (3D or flat), book trailer, endorsements or reviews, images, book excerpts, etc. Marketing is how you use the asset: where you post the information, which assets you post, how you link to your sales page, etc.

Having marketing assets can help, especially when you’re not sure what to post or share with your list. If you need a 3d cover, just let me know. I’ll send you one for free (I just need a jpg of your book cover).

For book trailers, you can use a freelancer site to find a good provider, or let me know if you need a referral. Before you spend money on a book trailer (usually costs $300+), determine WHERE you plan on using it. Your website, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram or any combination of the 4. You’ll want 2 book trailers: a full 2 minute one and a 30 second one. The 30 second one can come from the 2 minute version and should be included in the cost.

Images: you can use stock images with quotes from your book for good social media posts. We’ll get into the ins and outs of social media later on, but for a great stock image site that won’t break the bank, try Deposit Photos. To add the text, you can use a free image editor like Pixlr, Gimp or Canva. Canva lets you use their stock photos for free – would be a good site to check out. For truly stunning images, you may need to hire a graphic designer using a freelancer site.
