Building a Blog to Promote Your Book

My sad-sounding chime clock in the background…nice. You just can’t script this stuff, guys! : )

You should have a website of some kind – hopefully the URL is your name or some variation of it. (www.lisadespainauthor.com would be an example.) If you do this, you’ve laid the groundwork to promote other books and/or services that you offer on the same site. At minimum: your contact information, bio, a link to the book for purchase, the book cover, and the book description.

Quick synopsis of the video:

WordPress.com is free but limited. For the ability to sell stuff on your site, choose a self-hosted WordPress installation, available via: https://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress#Famous_5-Minute_Install

Another free blogging platform is blogger.com. It’s powered by Google with good AdWords & AdSense integration.

50 posts will help you reach “critical mass.” Run these either 2x/week or 1x/week consistently to see results.

Book-selling strategy: post book chapters in a serial format & then offer the book as a full product when it’s complete. You don’t have to post ALL the chapters for free on your website.
