Advanced Marketing for Printed Books

Book Signings

If you are excited about book signings, try them. If you’re not, don’t bother. It can be discouraging to have a book signing and have no one show up. In the video, I talk about a few ways to get around this.

Speaking in Person

Use your book as a business card to get you the speaking engagement. Then, when you speak, the goal is not just to sell books, but to sell the other services that you provide. Your opportunity is in the thousands of dollars for sales of services vs. tens of dollars when selling your book.

Bulk Sales

If you do any kind of consulting work for businesses, you can sell your book in bulk. If you are offering training to a company, be ready to sell your book in bulk. The key is your ability to sell it at a lower price than usual (sometimes as much as 60-70% off retail). To do this, look at Ingram Spark’s print & ship calculator, or if you want really great pricing, you might want to go to a traditional printer. Traditional printers typically won’t work directly with authors – if you need a go-between with a trad printer, let me know. Minimum orders start at 250-500 copies.

Bigger Income Opportunities

This is where it’s at!!

I hope you’ve made it this far because I firmly believe that repurposing your book content and offering it as 1 on 1 training, an online course, or a group program is the very best way to make more money with your book and reach more people in a more profound way.

Couple of ways to do this:

  1. Mastermind or VIP program: typically $1000 or more per month, very 1-on-1 customized training.
  2. Group training: semi-customized, includes an online training component and group interaction.
  3. 1-Day Intensive: help your clients get quick transformation by streamlining the process.
  4. Online course: most common price point is $997 for courses that offer financial transformation.
  5. Mini-course: $97 and under.

Things to consider when designing your higher-ticket offer: can your target market afford it? What is the best timeframe and format for the material? What should you add to the course to make it useful and highly transformative?
